Is it necessary to experience Aha moments to live a great life? Of course not. Still, there is something about Aha moments, isn’t there? During Aha moments, it’s like suddenly you see something you’ve never, ever seen before and everything about your life seems different in some way.
The other thing about Aha moments is that they almost always involve seeing something that was right before our eyes all along. Not so long ago, I was packing some fruit to take to work. I decided that I would take two oranges so I grabbed them, peeled them and put them in my lunch sack. A little while later, my wife asked if I had packed fruit for myself. I responded in the affirmative and she said, “Did you take some grapes?” “What grapes?” I responded. “Right there in the bowl right in front of the oranges.”
Yes, I had reached right over those grapes to get oranges and never, ever saw the grapes. They were right there to be seen. Certainly, my eyes had seen them, but for some reason, my brain did not. This was one of those Aha moments for me. Did it change my life? Well, actually it did. It reminded me of the real power of Aha moments - seeing what’s right before your eyes.
The book A Life Worth Living is a lot like that. It’s focus is to shine the light on things that are right before you eyes so that you get a new view of life. And with that new view, you’ll begin to live differently. So, no, Aha moments are not necessary to live a great life. Still, like the grapes, those powerful Aha moments allow us to see what we’ve been missing.
