Why are we here? What is the purpose of life?

Any ideas? “Purpose of life”?  Isn’t “purpose of life” an odd concept?  Aren’t we living life by the mere asking of the question, what is the purpose of life?  The question, “what is the purpose of life” seems to suggest that somehow we are not living it while we are asking it.  Like if we could just find the purpose of life, then we could really live.  Are we not living life while trying to figure out what is the purpose of life?

Still the question does make sense.  I mean when we ask the question, “what is the purpose of life?” aren’t we really asking what is the purpose of the things we see in life?  Aren’t we asking what purpose does starving people hold?  What purpose does mass poverty hold for us?  What purpose does war have?

In this way, for me, the question, “what is the purpose of life”, has become a cop out.  It presupposes that these conditions are things that are happening to us, just mere aspects of life that are just to be examined and understood to find meaning in them, and that we don’t have any hand in creating them or any choice in having them be different.

What if there is no meaning to be found in them?  What if they simply are results?  Results that are consistent with how we live.    When we stop to ask, “What is the purpose of life?” it puts us on the sidelines wondering about life, instead of living it.  Perhaps it’s just the wrong question?  Perhaps the only meaning these things have is be a guide to answering the question “Is this what we want?”  Do we want these things?  Or do we want something else?

You won’t find some hidden or mysterious purpose of life in the book A Life Worth Living.  It’s a useless question.  Asking what is the purpose of life only creates philosophical dead space.  I mean really if you think about it, the answer to the question is so obvious as to be revolutionary.

The purpose of life?  How about this?  To live.

This book will get you off the sidelines.  You’ll stop looking for hidden meaning, looking for the purpose of life.  You’ll start to create what you want.  You’ll start to make a difference in life.  You’ll start to contribute to others.  And you’ll do so, not because those things are the true purpose of life.  You’ll do so because what else is there to do than to live?

Stop asking “what is the purpose of life?” the purpose of life is to live. Learn how by getting your copy of A Life Worth Living today!
